...Dare I imagine that 4 is Awake or Raines?

Two very short-lived detective shows that stole my heart.

Awake: Jason Isaacs is a police detective who was in a severe car accident some months ago with his wife and teenage son, which apparently fractured his psyche. He's now living in two realities: one in which his wife died and his son survived, and one in which his son died and his wife survived, and when he goes to sleep in one he wakes up in the other. He works different cases in each reality, and the case he's working on one always somehow leads him to a clue that helps him solve the other. He's convinced that both realities are real, he has a therapist in each reality telling him he's made the other one up to help cope with his loss, and the audience has no idea which (if either) of these scenarios is true.

Raines: Jeff Goldblum solves murders by talking to the victims. He's not a psychic and they're not ghosts, he takes what he knows about them from the details of the case and talks out the information with himself by pretending/hallucinating that he's talking to them. Includes Nicole Sullivan as his research assistant, which may only be relevant if you had as much of a crush on Shego from Kim Possible as I did.

Holy fuck someone remembers Raines. It was a goddamn travesty that only got 4 episodes, I was super into it.

Awake sounds really cool! I'm always up for psychological thriller and mystery. The back and forth clue thing makes me think of video games too, so that's gotta be fun, even it gets gimmicky by the cancelation ep.

Jeff Goldblum goldblumming probably
almost but not really ghosts
Shego

Welp. This is going on my list. If I get disappointed by the end of these and wishing they never ended, thank you for that.

Awake does get weird at the end, I'll admit; the final two-parter goes more than a litle nuts, and the very ending is a "would have led to something in the second season, but now ends on a weirdly ambiguous note (which may be better than having anything resolved)" thing. But the show as a whole is worth it.

And there is so much Goldblumming in Raines. When we were watching it, my friends and I referred to it as "Detective Jeff Goldblum, starring Jeff Goldblum as Jeff Goldblum."
