Been a while since I read the few I had, but they were ridiculously charming for what they were. Which was basically crossover self-insert case fic.

I've never read a better Mary Sue, self-insert, self-referential story. ;)

Don't forget the original donut steel OCs. Which gets extra meta since the author doesn't like fanfiction about his characters? It's all good in the end. Death of the author and all that (sometimes literally iirc).

I think I saw ib_lee and an anon(s) talking about them recently too, so they've been on my mind. I don't think I ever got to the Nursery Crimes stories though; First Among Sequels was the last one I read iirc.
