IMO Whedon is a self-important douche who isn't half as feminist as he thinks he is and his influence on popular "fannish" media (comics, certain tv shows and movies, etc.) has been why I don't get into a lot of stuff anymore like I used to because it all sounds the fucking same whether he helmed it or not. It's like the entire world has been taken over by late-90s UPN tv show writers.
And he shit in the heart of one of my favourite franchises (Alien.) Never forgiving him for that.

I've yet to see Avengers. I loved the two Cap movies (and sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who likes Cap 1, though that might just be mild butthurt over kaijinscendre always telling me she doesn't like it lol) but Avengers was Whedon and I want nothing to do with it.

(Anonymous) 2015-02-28 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)You're definitely not alone in loving Cap1 (I love it to pieces) but Avengers made me gnash my teeth repeatedly over how hard Whedon was fanboying Tony Stark.
Yes, let's cast Steve -- a guy who just realized he's literally LOST everything -- as the antagonist to Tony Stark so that Tony can triumphantly prove him WRONG by being the hero in the end.
And his "genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" line still makes me want to punch a baby.
