Aw. I like Danny and Clara. And it was sad to see how hard the Doctor was crushing on her post regeneration, and how clearly he'd been relegated to the friend zone. Still lots of potential for angsty fic, which won't help you with your tedious sounding friend. :-( Sorry, anon.)

The Doctor was crushing on her? Did we watch the same show?

(Anonymous) 2015-02-28 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
'I'm not your boyfriend.'/ 'I never said you were.'/ 'I wasn't speaking about you.'

(Or words to that effect.) Plus there was how chuffed the Doctor was when he thought Clara's new boyfriend was the Matt Smith lookalike teacher. Yeah, I'd say defiantly crushing and then crushed.

DA, I read the "I'm not your boyfriend" line more as he was flirty with her and (maybe) kind of crushing on her when he was 11, but he was not going to do that anymore as 12.

And for the second thing, that's more about the Doctor's massive ego and how he thinks all his companions are in love with him and will always be in love with him. Kind of like how Ten thought Martha and Donna were going to fight over him and he got slightly disappointed when they didn't, he's just kind of full of himself that way.

I never got the impression that 12 was crushing on Clara and Capaldi is very anti flirting with the young companion so they won't go there with them. They are supposed to be close, but not in that way.

I disagree. He was hurt that Clara wasn't looking for a doppelganger of 11, trying for a second chance with someone more attainable. Especially now that he had drawn the not going there line.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
But I still feel like that's more about his ego then about his own personal feelings for Clara. His ego got hurt, but if he were jealous because of a crush wouldn't he be jealous regardless of who it was or what they looked like?

No, the Doctor has a massive ego. He wasn't crushing on Clara, he was crushing on the idea of someone fancying him.

I hated Danny so much that I actually cheered when he croaked (for however long it lasts).

But yeah, anti-ship can become just as, if not more, annoying as shipping.

I feel dumb, but I don't understand this secret.

So, she doesn't ship Clara with anybody but somehow she's contributing to ship wars? What?

I thought ship war meant you argued your pairing over another?

(Anonymous) 2015-02-28 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the OP means that her friend acts like she is better then shipwars because she doesn't ship a pairing but she still uses the same stupid arguments people is shipwars use.

Text: Dear Fandom Friend: you get so self-righteous about the fact that you don't ship Clara and the Doctor romantically. I wish I had the guts to point out that you're engaging in classic ship war behavior the next time you go on a rant about the awfulness of Clara/Danny.

This secret confuses me. Also, I for one loved Danny/Clara. I just finished my rewatch, and their phone conversation at the beginning of Dark Water. OMG. The feels. "Last one I'll ever say that to." I also really, really loved Danny and while I loved the season ender for the most part, I wish he hadn't really died.

I kind of ship the Doctor and Clara, but I admit that Danny and Clara are still cute together.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, Danny and Clara are so cute. And I don't think The Doctor had a crush on Clara. Just sayin'.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
'Beat that for a date'? He was mixed signaling all over the place.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
...you do know that disliking Danny/Clara may have more to do with it being a horribly played out romantic plot, and have nothing to do with preferring her with the Doctor?

(Anonymous) 2015-03-01 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Danny was a dick. There were a lot of warning signs that in real life would be a sign to stay away from him, like how absurdly touchy he was and kept breaking up with Clara only to get back with her again if she apologised. Classic early tactics of someone who's going to go onto much worse controlling behaviour.

I don't ship Doctor/Clara either, but I expect the OP would think I'm also guilty of acting like I'm ship warring.
