I never said they were smart about it. Trouble is they've tried to play every other card and no one believes them. Promising to be military strong men against a vast threat (which is handy because then no one can expect them to make the first strike) in the future if they get voted back in (and are hoping that no one remembers the decimation, and somehow still blames it on labour), is the only card the tories have left.
