The movies could also not make her a love interest at all.

Like, this is a thing that's a genuine possibility. We have no idea what they're doing with her in the MCU.

Sure.

They might not make her a love interest. And that would please me.

But what exactly is your issue to people raising objections that they WILL make her one?

No one's said Sharon needs to be written out of the story. Just that we don't want her in a romantic relationship with Steve. Which, given that she is in a romance with him in the comics, is a distinct possibility -- not one that's being pulled out of thin air.

I've never seen anyone HERE make that argument. Just that they don't want Steve/Sharon.

Hell, most people seem disappointed that she had such a small role in The Winter Soldier because they didn't feel they got a chance to know her.

If you're talking about Tumblr then that's stupid because people here can't take responsibility for the words of a random person.

FS doesn't exist in a vacuum. Fandom trends exist beyond one very small section of fandom.

Well of course, but saying:

" it always feels like people who try to apply it to Sharon are just trying to justify their butthurt over the fact that their pet ships aren't ever going to be canon."

is basically dismissing the fact that some people do legitimately find the Steve/Sharon pairing creepy. Again, it's using ship wars to dismiss criticism of the pairing.

And disliking the pairing doesn't mean one dislikes Sharon herself.

If you like the pairing (or don't mind it) that's perfectly alright, but if you're going to imply that people are objecting to it solely because they're "butthurt" don't be surprised when you get pushback.
