I kinda agree but only when it's really, painfully obvious. Otherwise, I'd rather see things that cast widely and ignore race, ability, gender, et al. unless they're critical to the story. But the best actors should get the best parts no matter what.

Unfortunately, the "best actor for the part" may not even be included in the casting call. In order to get a diverse cast, directors have to make a specific effort. If a character's race isn't specified, they'll probably end up portrayed by a white actor.

THANK YOU. I am sick of people rattling off "best actor for the part" and not getting how it cuts off access and opportunities for people to even get the chance to be considered.
