I liked her well enough as a kid (I liked everyone, and yay, tough girl characters!) - but watching it again as an adult, she is the whiniest, most obnoxious brat of them all. Seriously, she and her annoying Digimon are the worst. Biyomon just for being annoying, but Sora I actively wanted to slap.

Mimi, on the other hand, is fucking hilarious, and I didn't appreciate her enough as a child. lol

She's not even much of a tough girl character. She seems like she should be because she plays soccer and wears jeans, but there's never anything tough about her personality.

I agree, and I think that's one of the many reasons she massively disappointed me on the rewatch. She wore a helmet and was sporty and superficially strong, but it really didn't go any deeper than that.

And considering her story apparently concludes with her becoming a florist... yeah.

Nope, worse than that. She becomes a fashion designer.

Look, interests change. I understand that. But you cannot expect me to believe a girl who wears a hat like that ever had any kind of interest in fashion.

Oops, shit, yeah. I guess my brain refused to cope with that and tried to make it a little better.

I'm all about the interests changing and all. But it just seems to me that considering the conflict with her mother, Sora actualizing herself became abandoning the things that defined her when we got to know her in the series - her "tomboy" attributes were pretty much tossed away for her to become a very stereotypically feminine person. And that's not inherently bad, but there just wasn't anything leading up to it, so I'm not sure how we're supposed to interpret that.

That whole epilogue was just a mess.

"wasn't anything leading up to it" was everything that was wrong with everyone's life in the epilogue. As far as real life goes, the epilogue was more realistic than most epilogues, because most people's interests do change drastically as they grow up, and they do change themselves to fit in with social norms. But there's no point in trying to do that in the last few minutes of a TV show if you can't show how it happened.

I actually really liked it for just that reason. But I feel like I wasn't nearly as invested in the characters as a lot of people were -- certainly a lot less than I got invested in the Tamers characters, anyway. (You will never convince me that Ruki ever felt anything for Ryo beyond good-natured contempt, for instance.)

Mimi will forever be the best thing about that show for me, loved her sfm as a kid and was surprised at how well she stands up on adult rematch.

I loved Mimi as a kid (she had pink clothes and a plant Digimon! therefore she was my favorite) and I still loved her when I rewatched it recently.
