I'm sad that David Gaider is leaving the Dragon Age writing team.

I'm even sadder because all the nasty little SJWs that infest this fandom are celebrating it.

It's not like it affects anyone that some people on Tumblr are happy about the change.

Re: Fandom Comments/Complaints/Whatevers

(Anonymous) 2015-03-04 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
They actively harass the writing team, so it kind of does. A couple of months back, Gaider deleted his own Tumblr account because they wouldn't leave him alone.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-04 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
So you think Gaider left the project because a bunch of people were mean to him on Tumblr?

Nah, he's got a thicker skin than that. My concern is that the troublemakers are seeing things like this as victories, which encourages them to keep making trouble.

You're ascribing way too much power to them, tbh.

Re: Fandom Comments/Complaints/Whatevers

(Anonymous) 2015-03-04 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I think what other anon is saying is they'll only get worse if they think they 'won'.

They don't have to have any actual power in order to decide they've scored a victory and take that as an excuse to be even more shrieky and annoying.

Re: Fandom Comments/Complaints/Whatevers

It... still doesn't affect anyone, not unless you hate-follow their blogs or cruise Tumblr/Twitter tags or forums looking for them. And in that latter case, you're going to encounter all sorts of shrieky annoying troublemaking assholes, not just nasty evil SJWs. It's a big fandom.

Re: Fandom Comments/Complaints/Whatevers

(Anonymous) 2015-03-04 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Jerks in fandom have actually driven away creators from sharing with the rest of fandom because everything they say or do is criticized and offers more opportunity for them to be assholes.

So it does affect fandom.

Wait, he is? Really? Isn't the Dragon Age universe pretty much... his universe?

...are there more Dragon Age games coming out?

Yes, yes, and probably. New head writer is Patrick Weekes.

I'm sad too. He wrote pretty much all my favorite DA characters.

:( I hadn't heard...

While I think Inquisition could've been better, I still enjoyed it and Gaider wrote some of my favorite DA characters. This is unfortunate.

But I suppose it means good things for whatever project he's working on. (I'd still like another solo SW game, but I guess that's unlikely since TOR is ongoing. Or another Jade Empire... Maybe this is a brand new series? IDK.)

Well, Bioware did announce a new property/universe last year, details forthcoming.

I forgot about that! I do care more about Dragon Age than any new property, but I suppose it's good they're putting their best people on it.

(Though they must already be pretty busy with DA, ME and TOR... Even with multiple teams I don't see how they have the time.)

Re: Fandom Comments/Complaints/Whatevers

[personal profile] cbrachyrhynchos 2015-03-04 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, they're kinda the Michael Bay (or, if I'm feeling generous Marvel) of game design so they can practically print money. Although isn't TOR in something of maintenance mode since it came out just after peak MMO and has gone freemium?

Re: Fandom Comments/Complaints/Whatevers

(Anonymous) 2015-03-04 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure the Michael Bay analogy applies better to one of the approximately nine million nigh-indistinguishable shooter studios.

True, how about George Lucas who combines big-idea aspirations with simplistic tone-deaf delivery?

I don't play or follow TOR so it might be, but I just assume since it's an MMO that new content is on the roster. Don't know how accurate that is and even if so I imagine it doesn't require all that many people compared to a whole new game, but... It's something, I guess.
