I don't feel too alone in my tastes in fandom. Maybe a bit when I don't ship the juggernaut pairing, but I can admit that just fine. And sometimes I'm more willing to say I like less popular media, because I've never encountered hatedoms for them, or embarrassing fans like in bigger fandoms.

But I kind of want to highlight/acquire/downplay certain tastes, to feel closer to the kind of person I'd think highly of. Pretentious fan cred. Wanting to be a cool kid. It's stupid, I know. At least I've never faked/forced it. I hope I'll grow out of it, or stop taking it personally and only do it for things like conversations I need to get something out of.
