It is really sad. Out of all the YA series that came out recently (or less recently, in this case...) Artemis Fowl was one of my favorites. There's something so fun and odd and creative about it. It's true that the later books kind of lose the way a bit, but overall it's so much fun.
The sad thing is that done well, I think it would make a GREAT movie.

Yeah, it's kind of like the Hunger Games in the sense that it reads a lot like a movie would. Plus it really would work great as film installments. With the exception of the third book leading into the fourth, pretty much every single book works as a finale to the whole series. So you could make a movie and have the story feel complete. And then make a sequel, and have the series feel complete. And so on and so forth.

It's like the ultimate "try as many movies/sequels on for size, you can stop whenever it stops making money, and nothing will feel unfinished" adaptable series... unlike The Golden Compass, The Dark is Rising, Eragon, Cassie Claire's book/movie, etc...

What are you talking about The Dark is Rising never had a movie made not one
which is a shame because I love that book
it would probably make a great movie, you know? Something very atmospheric
I mean nobody would even try making a stupid Harry Potter knockoff actiony YA flick or anything right
I mean TDIR is all about atmosphere and NOT using magic
aha hahah
