My mother has been sick to her stomach and had a couple bad nosebleeds these last two days and sounds out of it, but threatened to lock herself in the bathroom and kill herself if I call 911 since she hates hospitals and claims the shame of being hospitalized is worse than possibly dying. She's undergoing radiation for cancer treatment, has a dodgy liver and blood clotting issues from years of drugs and drinking, and I'm terrified. I know from experience that if she's genuinely scared of dying she'll make me call 911, or call a friend to take her in, but sometimes when she's loopy her priorities get even more skewed than usual.

You could call her oncologist and ask them about it? Radiation can be pretty rough on the body, and some side-effects are normal, others are worrying. They might know someone who could make a house call or even be able to talk to her over the phone. I don't want to scare you, but it's possible that she's had some internal bleeds as well as external, and it's something that warrants further investigation.

If she's becoming less capable of making sound decisions, it might be a good idea to have a talk to her doctor about your concerns. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I know it's not easy.
