What is your favorite part of Middle Earth? Or, favorite part of the world?

I love that its set up as this mythological history (history minor in college plus always had an interest in mythology). I love the various species. I'm particularly fascinated with elves, and in particular the Noldor. I like the whole epic good vs. evil thing. I like how fully fleshed out the world is. I like the complexity, particularly of the languages. Tolkien really thought of everything.

I guess if I had to pick a favorite thing it would be either the Noldor (and in particular my favorites are Maedhros, Celebrimbor, Galadriel, Fingon, and Fingolfin) or the story of Beren and Luthien.

Plus, there is just so much stuff already in canon and so much to work with in fics.

I love the species in Middle Earth! But as I have only seen the movies, my knowledge is limited.

Ah, cool. Love the movies too, I'm just really obsessed with the pre-Hobbit/LOTR stuff right now. Movie-wise, my favorites would be Galadriel, Gandalf, Elrond, Eowyn, Thorin, Bilbo, and Sam.
