I LOVED the RTD era. Granted, it was the only one I watched because Ten's 'death' hurt me too hard.

I remember when Ten first regenerated, I was actually kind of excited and happy because I assumed the shift from Ten to Eleven would be rather like the shift from Nine to Ten, or from companion to companion. I thought Eleven and Amy would have the majority of their first season to themselves, to let Moffat settle in so-to-speak, and then the cameos would gradually start to trickle in. An episode guest-starring Martha and Mickey here... a small Torchwood crossover there... bring back Simm!Master and have him regenerate... check in with Jenny for a two-parter or something...

And there was nothing. No guest appearances (other than River). No musical themes that carried over (even though it's all still done by Murray Gold). No mentions. Nothing.

People talk about Ten's 'death' and how it was way overblown and drawn out and how he didn't need to visit everyone he'd been friends with, but honestly? It wasn't Ten saying goodbye to everyone, it was the audience saying goodbye to everyone.

So yeah. Losing all of them now hurts me a lot harder than just Ten. :(

I think I was just so attached to him. And it felt so suddenly goofy when Eleven showed up that is was like emotional whiplash.
