what if there was a universe where the Joker was literally the lone sane man in the DC universe, which drives him insane. The fall into whatever literally melted the 4th wall for him and he realizes he is stuck in a world where people build fancy cars and run around dressed up as bats and fight crime and nobody has a problem with this ???? What is wrong with everybody?

he tries to talk to the police but they turn out to be stupendously useless for the sake of plot and nobody else has noticed this. He tries to get the citizens to see how crazy people running around in armored leotards playing heroes and villains is, and WTF why isn't anybody using freeze ray technology and flying cars and shit like that for SCIENCE, but nobody thinks anything going on is weird in the least. Nobody ever uses cell phones or internet because that would make everything "too easy." He has a breakdown because HE FEELS LIKE HE'S TAKING CRAZY PILLS HERE, THE WORLD IS BROKEN, THIS ISNT HOW ITS SUPPOSED TO GO. THIS LITERALLY MAKES NO SENSE

Then they put him in an asylum. Which he, the average normal guy, escapes out of easily when a guard handily leaves the door open, and none of the police can tell how he got out and ARE THEY FUCKING KIDDING HIM. He can't go back to his home or get his car or anything so he steals shit instead and either nobody notices, or they stand around being puzzled about how that happened. It must have been some kind of mastermind thief what a genius. He accidentally murders some random people one time while trying to rob some place for food and nobody seems to really care too much, it doesn't even make it into the news BECAUSE EVERYONE IS CRAZY. He blows something up because WHY THE FUCK NOT AT THIS POINT and walks off and DOESN'T GET CAUGHT, but Batman does swoop in and gaze around darkly at things because the world insists on being ridiculous and dramatic

And as the crimes escalate because he just wants to see WTF he can even get away with, he slowly realizes holy shit, he's supposed to be the villain in the story. HE HAS HANDWAVEY POWERS. HE HAS PLOT ARMOR. HE CAN LITERALLY DO ANYTHING.

but god he's desperate for anyone at all to realize it's the world that's crazy and not just him. He spends the rest of his life doing more and more ridiculous things scaling up and up and up trying to PROVE to everybody (and Batman) that everything is ridiculous, nobody gives a shit about the things that actually matter like nameless NPCs being blown up all the time, and he shouldn't be getting away over and over again, but he DOES, and people should be calling for everyone to kill him off by now, BUT THEY NEVER DO, even when he's swearing to escape and KILL EVERYBODY or whatever just to see what happens (and it doesn't matter, nothing ever DOES matter, it's either laugh at it all or cry about it), and doesn't anybody else see how crazy all of this is
