I feel like I never understood what was happening in any of his books and thats why i stopped reading them.

Okay I'm not alone here then... I've read far and wide, and his books were nothing but ??? to me.

IIRC the books were very vague and hard to follow. Vocabulary wise, they were fine but the prsse was weird.

I'm glad other people are confused by him too. I remember reading Wicked and being like "does this not make any sense or am I just fucking stupid??" during some scenes

Oh man! I thought I was just dumb, but maybe not? I did like Wicked but I was confused during several scenes and it took a few rereads for me to understand. Specifically I remember not even getting the opening scene AT ALL until the third read through.

His writing style is very unique. It's one of the few books I feel works better on a reread than a first read through. There is no word that is misplaced and they all mean something (I have to read very slowly when I read him which is hard for me). I really like it, but I can totally understand why someone wouldn't be as into his writing style.
