Re: Tropes/common themes that annoy you

I hate when sitcoms try to make a couple commit too quickly, either so they can break them off or in some cases as a ratings ploy and to prove the couple is for real.

Like some couples do actually spend time and DATE before anyone ever brings up moving in together or marriage. The moving fast thing happens, but not as much as tv would like to have us believe.

Plus I hate when one character proposes marriage and the other isn't ready because it always ends up feeling like they were a fine couple and nothing was really wrong except they weren't ready yet so I always get sad when they break up.

I like that more than endless will-they-or-won't-they.

Fuck will-they-or-won't-they, so hard.

AYRT, oh I agree, I'd probably take moving fast over will they or won't depending on how it's written.

I'd just like more couples that just start dating and then... continue dating.

I definitely agree! That'd probably be my preference, if I was in charge of TV land.

Alas I am not.

This is one of my bigger complaints about Alphas, actually. The obviously ship teased guy/girl have sex when they're under the influence of mind control, right? And they acknowledge they're attracted to each other and everything afterwards, seem to have no regrets, but then they...don't date? Just because?

It was really obvious the show just wanted to put them back in a will they/won't they block, and it was so annoying.

I think more writers need to just commit to a direction with their couples and not go back on something just because they want more *drama*.
