Married with a job here and I hear ya so much anon. I'm close to the end of my 20s and some days I still think "so when do I feel like a proper not-fake adult?"

My parents are in their 50s/60s and tell me this is normal throughout your life, so that makes me feel better. My dad confessed that in his head he's still in his early 20s even though rationally he knows he's not.

I read a book recently by the lady who does the confessions of a shopaholic series. It was about a girl who started seeing the ghost of her dead great aunt, who was like, 105 when she died. But she was in her 20s as a ghost because that was how she always saw herself. I totally identified with that.

That's actually...quite comforting? I don't really believe in ghosts or anything but it's a nice thing to read all the same. I guess it makes me feel that if I'm wrong, I like that alternative interpretation of the ways of the world/universe.

There's a scene in Terry Pratchett like that - Death's apprentice reaps an old witch and her spirit is a young woman. The apprentice asks if that's what she looked like, and she says it's who she's always been.
