Wasn't familiar with the show before this secret, but "university"? Aren't most of the contestants in their twenties then? Wiki says grad students participate too. It's not like you're cruising around the playground.

There is no indication that this is about age - more that it is about real strangers, not fictional characters or celebrities.

Besides, who says everyone on F!S is young? I won't see fifty again.

Are you the OP? Just curious, cause it seems like a strange way of thinking to me. People have crushes on real people all the time--"that girl that always walks her dog here is so cute" "Have you seen the new district manager? I'd climb him like a tree" etc.

Besides, who says everyone on F!S is young?

I thought my comment implied the opposite of that assumption--F!S teen or twenties posters are highly unlikely to feel bad about crushing on someone young after all.

Not AYRT, but I am the OP

and while it's really hard to explain why I feel gross about it, the fact that it's a real stranger and not fictional characters or celebrities has a lot to do with it. to me, I guess, it just feels like, if I have a crush on someone in real life, at least there's a possibility of my getting to know them as a person. and that's totally impossible in this case, and that makes it feel weird and almost disrespectful.

and I think the other thing that makes it strange to me is that having a crush for me is as much about admiring someone's personality and intelligence and things like that, which, again, feels weird when it's someone you've only seen on TV but who isn't a fictional character.

also there might be a third factor here which is that I just don't get crushes very frequently, at all
