you'd report yourself for a human hit and run, of course

but assuming the animal is dead and in the road (run over =/= hit), the cost/risk benefit of checking the animals collar on most roads to call the owners isn't worth it imo

would you do the same for a squirrel or goose?

I wouldn't rush to bring a squirrel to the vet, but if I could I'd stop and see if it was dead or injured. if it was clearly going to die but not there yet, I'd probably try to kill it.

I'm honestly curious as to why you think it's especially risky to pull off by the side of the road. That's really weird to me, I mean, people PARK on the sides of roads all the time...

And do you think reporting yourself is going to help the person you actually hit??? Is it ok to let them die when you could stop to help, even if you intend to turn yourself in later?

I'm sorry, but this is just bizarre. I've never met anyone who actually advocated hit-and-runs.
