NB: three actresses have actually played Lavender Brown: Jennifer Smith in PoA, Kathleen Cauley in CoS, and Jessie Cave in HBP and DH.

As I said below, were they actually supposed to be Lavender? I don't remember Lavender as such being in the films until HBP. I always thought they were just supposed to play random students. I know they cast Parvati, but she never really had any lines.

(I could be totally wrong there, I was never as into the film side of fandom as I was the book side. I saw the films with other fans and that was it.)

They were both credited as playing Lavender in the movie credits.

They were all listed as such in the credits. Most of the background students (beyond the main characters, and people like Dean, Neville etc) were cast as extras and then given names of characters from the books in the credits. This is why some extras disappear between movies (the red headed, vacant looking girl who plays 'Susan Bones' from the first two movies disappears for the third), and Lavender had three different actresses, as two were cast as extras and the 6th movie required an actual speaking/acting role.

Susan Bones is Chris Columbus's daughter, anyway. She probably wouldn't have been in the movie if Daddy hadn't been directing.

...so? she wasn't anything more than an extra in the first two films (I don't think she even had any lines) and it's pretty common for relatives of people who work on films to be given little bit roles like that. she was recast when she actually had to do something

DA--I thought she was pretty cute as a background character in the first couple of movies. When I found out who she was, I figured she had no lines because she couldn't do the accent. But I totally did not realize Susan Bones was recast or has lines in later movies!
