Well, yeah, if you're talking about fad diets that don't actually teach you how to make healthy lifestyle changes.

If you're not... I'm going to need to see those "studies" you're claiming exist.

This. If you actually make the lifestyle changes to be healthier, it's easy to keep the weight off.

+1

A lot of people think that dieting = starving yourself for a month > losing weight > deciding that the goal was reached and they can stop dieting > going back to eating too much. And then, naturally, they regain weight and decide that dieting in general doesn't work. The only diet that actualy works is a permanenet lifestyle change.

I can completely understand that for a lo of people it's just not worth the effort. I don't think it's necessary for people to value being thin over eating what you like when you like and as much as you like. But I don't like it when people feel the need to justify their choices with a lie that it's not actually their choice.

Exactly. I lost 20 lbs and have kept it off for nearly 10 years now because I made permanent lifestyle changes involving better eating and more exercise. Ironically, now that my overall lifestyle is healthier, I can still eat the things I want without gaining that weight back because I know how to do so in moderation.

You can start with this one and I'm sure we can track down the others.
