God, I hate sporking and mocking "mary sues," or "self inserts." People who do this are cruel and same with those who publicly mock cosplayers.

I personally find a lot of fanfic and cosplay to be dumb- it just doesn't appeal to me, but I would never say or do to make anyone feel bad about it.

People should feel free to live it up and do what they enjoy free of the mockery.

I will say it, in private, because I work at cons and the number of people who want to come up and tell me their WOW character's tragic backstory, or their twelve franchise crossover OC idea is.. impressive. But I don't put it in writing or do it in any way that they can find out.

Also, despite what the internet would say, it's about an even male/female ratio of Mary Sue creators. (Yes, please do tell me how your OC would totally beat up both Superman and The Doctor in a team up and have Lois Lane and Amy Pond wanting to date him but he's too cool for that.*)
