That's the thing OP got so close but missed by so much. I know where they're coming from and those artists annoy me too, but forcing everyone to draw equal amounts of male and female characters is neither the solution nor a good indicator of how sexist or unsexist an artist is.

More important is how are they drawing them? What sort of subject material is it? Why do they draw what they do? The first response points out a valid argument: if respect or unsexism is solely based on how many characters of the gender you draw, are straight male artists who only draw female characters super feminist? Hardly!

OP here, I didn't write a single word about forcing people to do things. Only the fact that people who only ever draw one gender personally make me uncomfortable and suspicious of their worldviews.

I'm allowed to feel and think whatever I want about other people's art and this community's reaction sure makes it seem like I'm some fascist boogieman who's planning to destroy all their SPN smut or whatever.

What an weird response. You're allowed to say whatever you want, but others are not allowed to think what they want of it or disagree? That's not how it works

The thing is FS is more interested in childish drama and dogpiling instead of treating whatever topic as a conversation starter. You guys won't gain anything from mocking and insulting me, I'm quite comfortable here behind my veil of anonymity.

Who hurt you????

Is anybody mocking and insulting you? I think people are disagreeing with your statement and maybe mocking the ideas you have, but that is hardly mocking and insulting you. I hope you don't equate your opinions with your identity. We don't even know who you are.

It's not a weird response at all. The weird response is to hear someone say "I don't think much of people who don't do X", interpret that as "people who don't do X should be forced to do X on pain of death" and then expect people to take your side in the argument that erupts despite having made yourself look less reasonable.

I disagree with OP and I think you're a complete idiot.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-10 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Where did I suggest OP was saying that? I stated that even forcing everyone to even out to solve OP's issue of "unevenness" was not a solution, a statement which I stand by, as the point was that "evenness" was irrelevant to sexism and such.

If you want to think I'm a complete idiot because of that single thing, though... okay?

Don't worry, anon. That anon above you is obviously using some sort of complete idiot logic. "I disagree with you; therefore = complete idiot."

And all of us complete idiots and anons are indistinguishable from each other, which makes the name-calling that much more silly.

??? How did we suddenly make the leap to fascism?

"I'm allowed to feel and think whatever I want" but no one's allowed to have a contrary reaction or express it or I'll get defensive and butthurt.

Okay then.

aw yeah??

Fuck it, from now on, everyone will draw what I want:

Sparkledogs.

The more eye-searing the color combinations, the better.

Get to it, or you die under my sparkly, iron-clad rule, artists!
