This has got to be a troll secret.

Just in case it isn't, Umbridge was a stereotype (see: Barbara Cartland and pink) turned on its head because she was also a goddamn monster.

If anything, the subverting of the stereotype suggests that JKR has nothing against pink but was instead using it as a harmless and, as another anon described it, 'frivolously feminine' mirror to underline Umbridge's evil.
