I was recently told that there's a surplus of law school grads and not enough lawyer jobs for all of them. I'd suggest not going to law school unless you think you'll really love law or your family has a law firm and you're guaranteed a job. There are faster and cheaper ways to get the kind of jobs some law grads will wind up getting.

My former neighbor went to law school due to parental pressure - her mother would harshly shoot down every other idea my neighbor had about what to do with her life, claiming above all else "but you won't make any money!" Well, my neighbor graduated, but she never did take the bar or become a lawyer because she had just never really wanted to be one. She had a corporate job that paid well for a while, but then she was out of work for a time during the recession. On balance, I doubt she has made more money than if she had done something entirely different. She probably would have been a lot happier if she'd done something else, too!
