I finally saw What We Do In The Shadows. (It just arrived in the US. Over a year since it debut in New Zealand.)

Oh, God, I loved it. It's sweet, funny and creepy. Everything you want in a horror-comedy about four vampire roommates. When it comes out on DVD, I am so buying it.

Right? And I was surprised by how much heart it had. Usually I love scary, psychotic vampires over any other kind but I love Viago. He is the most adorable vampire ever. I've said this before, he's like a puppy in the shape of a vampire. You can't help but want to hug him. (But be careful that he doesn't bite you. He's a bit of messy eater.)

There was just so much that was so good about that movie. I love that it was the antithesis of the usual vamp aesthetic.

At least the modern vamp aesthetic. Instead, they went old school folklore. Seriously, when was the last time we had a vampire who couldn't stand the sight of the cross? Usually these days, "Oh, that crucifix stuff is BS." I think the Fright Night remake was the last time and before that I think it was Dracula 2000. That far back.
