Since it was so spur of the moment I think Carol weighted the risk in her mind and thought that threatening the kid would be more likely to keep him quiet. If she had said someone in town wanted the guns he might've immediately asked why she sneaked in after dark to get them, or for whom, and I feel like he probably would've mentioned it to someone after. Not that the threatening isn't risky either, because again, he COULD mention it, but I think given how scared he was it's unlikely. (Or even if he did mention it people might think he's making stories up, considering how nonthreatening they find Carol and how outlandish it sounds.)

I def don't think it was a good thing, but I don't think there was any good outcome for that situation. IA about the morally sketchy thing, but we've had characters bounce back from that before so I hope she'll manage. Rick is also toeing that line right now (the "We'll take it" line made him sound like a good old fashioned villain), so it isn't just Carol.

Oh Rick is definitely sketchy too but he has the "I'm the main character" thing protecting him lol. Plus Rick always goes back and forth between good and bad, like he gets dark for a while and then there's always something or someone to snap him out of it until he inevitably gets dark all over again.

Like when he kicked out Carol, he wasn't exactly in the position to feel morally superior to her but when Rick is feeling like a good guy, everyone needs to toe the line.

Carol isn't so much back and forth as she is just more dark now. She's only being nice to people in town to play a part as opposed to some of the others who are either just being themself or genuinely trying.

Hmm...

IDK, she's clearly playing a false role right now but I think like most of the group, she doesn't trust them yet. I don't think she hates them all or can't or won't grow to like them (hell, maybe she already likes some of them), but despite that she's keeping her guard up because that's who she is now.

Again, Rick was pretty harsh with Aaron during their first meeting...I feel like we need to give them more time to see how the characters are going to adapt to this situation. (Sasha for instance is so traumatized by everything she's been through that she hasn't exactly been in the mood to make friends either. If the group is in Alexandria long enough I think some of this will change.)
