It seems like it should be, but Kat/Annie and, more recently, Kat/Paz are reigning ships in the fandom. (With Robot/Shadow and Annie/Reynardine fighting for third place.)

As to her skill, Mechanical but hypercompetent. She learned this as thorougly as anything, especially back in the early days when humans had less to do. Does an incredibly good job, but there's no passion. It's like you customized a machine to make you feel good.

I ship it, and I was totally going to make a secret trying to convince other people to ship it too, but then it occurd to me that

holy shit how would you even make it work??

Like, maybe if Eglamore died in the next few years, and Jones and Annie were still in frequent contact, and whatever Annie fieels for Jones grew into a full-blown crush and she tried to initiate something and Jones was all “eh sure why not, you’re all grown-up now and no longer my student” (but in a Jones-way, I mean)

(No wonder the only 2 fics with them are “implied but never acted on” and “diiirty hot student/teacher secret fling *wink wink* *eyebrow waggle*”)
