What constitutes killing a character for "seemingly no reason"? Because I have a feeling this is directed at GoT/ASOIAF, but I think most of the deaths in it so far have been pretty well justified. Er, that is, not warranted, but the killers have motivations that are explained well in context.

I think part of the problem is that if characters keep dying it removes any reason to get invested in them because what's the point? They could be dead by the end of the episode! This is worse if it doesn't seem like the designated protagonists are immune.

I'm actually fine with most GOT death, except Renly - but mostly that's the how, not the fact he did die or why. I'd still agree with the statement. I dislike gratuitous death. I just happen to feel like it's not random in GoT.

I was thinking The 100. They really do tend to introduce characters just to kill them horribly. Oh look, the stakes for Clarke and Jaha are so huge this week because someone else died. Yeah, that isn't a shocking raising of the stakes anymore. That is just killing people for cheap schlock now.
