I'm firmly in 'a little of column a, a little of column b.' I'm fairly certain he was manipulated and tortured into Thanos's bidding, but the dude was more'n a little fucked up before he got there.

After he started getting some of his own agency back during the Avengers (as I theorize, watching how his physical shape improves over the film, well, up until he gets whipped like a locker room towel), he still makes incredibly shitty and evil decisions, but now they're of his own free will.

Dark World walks a harsh line between these two; he's not blindly evil, he's not a sociopath, he's got some sort of agenda of his own but holy shit, he's pretty fucked up.

Not gonna lie, I have a gigantic fanfic dog in this race, but I never understand trying to erase the things he did. He *did them*. And not all of them can be waved off with the magic pointy infinity stick.
