Whenever I get anxious, I focus very hard on my breathing. Everything about it; the way it sounds, the way the air feels as it passes through my throat and lungs, how it slowly changes from quick to calm the more I focus on it.

It took me years to figure out how to do this. I didn't want to at first, I thought it was boring, unsatisfying, a waste of my time. But I eventually got desperate, and realized it was my best bet. My only one, really. Focusing on my breathing really helped me appreciate that I even could breathe in the first place. Knowing the way I experience my own breathing is unlike any other is something I eventually grew to find comforting.

I hope you are able to indulge in a peace when you need it. Even if it's brief.
