Sadly they don't, I'm still waiting for tumblr to do that. (But I can also see how one could abuse it as well.)

No more potential for abusing it than there is with locking DWs or LJs, or editing blog posts. We managed okay with screencapping and cached versions then, I don't see how letting Tumblr be this uneditable mess is protecting anyone or anything to any greater level than before.
