29 - That's actually really interesting. I was there when the show first started airing. I loved (and still do love) Ahiru/Mythos, and that fandom made me feel so unwelcome that I left and never looked back. It was one of the least pleasant fandom experiences that I've ever had.

I really try not to be bitter about it--after all, there have been many times I haven't loved the fandom OTP, and it's really not fair to blame it on the fandom. But the rampant bashing was just too much for me, and even remembering it right now I still cringe a little.

...woah, they was Mytho/Ahiru bashing before? I wouldn't know as I love Princess Tutu but stay in my own internet corner for the most part. From what I saw, it seems there are a few fans of the pairing that just feel like they're supporting it quietly compared to the powerhouse of Fakir/Ahiru but, seriously, Ahiru/Mytho was sort of the groundwork of the series. How can you hate that?

If it's any consolation to you I know plenty of people who support both and those like me who actually might like it better. They are too sweet to dislike.

Oh, there was a metric ton of Ahiru/Mythos and especially Mythos in general bashing while the show was airing--whcih was a real turn off because he's genuinely my favorite character.

It was basically one of those things where he was a "threat" until the very end, and then once he was no longer a threat things calmed down. But by that point I wanted absolutely nothing to do with the fandom in general.

As it is now, well, probably a lot of people that I had issue with have moved on, so it's probably not really fair to keep feeling bitter towards the "fandom" like it's some huge monolithic entity...but either way, it's not going to meet my needs as a Ahiru/Mythos shipper, so I find it easier to just shrug and go along my merry way. (I really don't want to be one of those people that gets all huffy because fandom doesn't write what I want to read)

That's fully understandable. I think if I had seen that I would have thrown up my hands at the fandom too. I love and adore Mytho, so even now that's he's the most ignored of the main four bothers me but it's better than bashing.

But there's been some Mytho/Ahiru fan support, at least. Not a lot but one or two stories and some gorgeous fanart. Not trying to get you to wander back or anything, but I'm genuinely glad to know other people like the pairing/Mytho in general. And they should get more support.

...Wow. I've been in the fandom for almost two years now and I haven't seen any sort of bashing at all. o_o; I had no idea that kind of thing was going on before. I'm sorry that the fandom was unwelcoming back then and that you had to endure something like that. I know being bashed for your OTP or even just a pairing you like is never fun.

Generally what I've noted about the fandom now is that a lot of people ship multiple things openly. Including Mytho/Ahiru. Heck some people even ship the "OT4" of Fakir, Ahiru, Mytho, and Rue. XD

Oh, it's not like it was directed at me or anything. Just the entire atmosphere was a bit poisonous if you weren't inclined to like Fakir/Ahiru the best.

(And I got sick of arguing over whether or not Ahiru's feelings for Mythos had ever been genuine, and about the theme of fairytales in general and why the "subversion" reads false to me--rather like how it did in Enchanted--BUT I'M WEIRD LIKE THAT.)

Now that's new. I hadn't heard of that at all in the least bit... Hm. I guess I can see where the bashers are coming from because I've seen something similar in the Japanese fandom, but thanks very much for hte piece of history I didn't know.

Well, then make that secret "like the Princess Tutu english fandom now" (or well in more recent years).

Really? Even though I'm more of a Mytho/Rue shipper (and a Fakir/Ahiru shipper, although less than I used to be), I haven't seen much Mytho/Ahiru bashing. I've seen people admit they don't like a particular character or pairing, but only when directly asked or on their own journals--I've never seen someone loudly declare in a major fandom hub how much they hate Mytho or Rue or any pairing.

...Mytho/Ahiru is definitely not as popular, though. ^^; Or Mytho. (Which makes me said, because...even though Fakir is my favorite, Mytho's steadily overtaking a top position.)

Actually, I think I love all of the characters and most of the pairings. It's crazy.
