Oh, Seifer/Selphie -- I hadn't thought of that, but I could totally see it! Hahahaha.

I was going to mention Firefly as the other fandom I just toss everyone together in. Buffy to an extent -- but I'm pretty insane about my main Buffy 'ship most of the time. (The Scoobies I 'ship pretty much any which way, though.)

Okay, I'm curious - what's your main Buffy 'ship?

Firefly, eh? I could see that, sans Wash/Zoe. I love those two together. But hey, Kaylee goes with pretty much everyone!

Well, I know a TON of people hate it like *death*, but Buffy/Spike is my 'ship. ... and that's all I'll say! :D

I could actually see Zoe with Mal -- eventually. But otherwise, yeah, Wash and Zoe are to be left alone. The rest I just mishmash together.

Cool - I go back and forth between loving Buffy/Angel and Buffy/Spike personally, but I adore both, so I get where you're coming from. I've actually defended Buffy/Angel to my own mother. She's a diehard fan of Buffy/Spike and will hear of nothing else. I figure both vamps are beaming icons of gloriousness compared to Riley, so I'm good with either.

Hahaha, the idea of having to defend a 'ship to your mother cracks me up. I watch shows with mine, but she never really gets into the 'ships. And then I feel a little silly for being so diehard. Especially since, usually, the ships are the whole reason I watch things in the first place!

I liked Buffy/Angel when I first started the show. I think this is due, in part, to the fact that the first episodes I ever saw were Becoming I & II, and they just broke my wee heart.

For a long time, my mom fangirled pretty much everything I did except anime. Shows, movies, video games - she was there and ready to argue for her ships. Good stuff.

Oh yeah, those episodes were brutal. I watched from the first episode, and was so invested in that couple... Becoming ripped my heart right out.

Hahaha, I just remembered something I think you'll appreciate: my mom doesn't always fangirl with me, and she doesn't usually pay much attention to video games, but I do make her watch FF cutscenes with me. I remember, waaay back when, when I first was playing VIII, I showed her the dance scene, and her reaction was this: (About Squall) "Oh, he's so beautiful. Oh, he's just a doll!"

Cracks me up to this day.

I've been meaning to make her watch the FFXII cutscenes, but I don't live at home anymore, and I'm unwilling to lug my PS2 to her house with me, and she's unwilling to deal with Minneapolis traffic. Woes! Anyway. :)
