Yeah, really. DX I mean, I don't think the Rentheads had a problem with the newbies getting into it after that movie, so the ST fans should just stfu and deal with it. And really, who're the ones causing all the wank? Is it the new kids? I THINK NOT.

*sigh* I'm starting to think I'm one of the only people who prefers the movie over the musical.... I mean, I'm not dissing the musical in any way, but the movie really brought it to live, and they did things they just couldn't do on a stage.

Having heard the soundtrack (... a lot. I made a post here (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomsecrets/117813.html?thread=29530677#t29530677) which explains my specific relationship with the piece), I think I have to say that there's some things about the stage version I will probably prefer and some things about the film version I like. I'm also a total theatre rat, and will sing the praises of live productions from here till judgment day, but... My opinion is that for a film adaptation, it was fucking brilliant and people should shut up and just be glad it wasn't butchered in the face like most film adaptations (The Dark is Rising, anyone? how about the Neverending Story YEAH I WENT THERE.) Whenever something transitions to film you have to make choices and make cuts, and I agree with most of the choices that Burton made (and the ones I don't agree with I can forgive)

There were so many other great little things in the film too. By the Sea, anyone...?

EXACTLY. They have to realize that even for a musical, Sweeney Todd is LONG. I think it was something close to three hours if I remember correctly? They had to do a lot of cutting and editing to make it a suitable length for a movie. And while it was kinda sad not to see more of the Antony-Johanna subplot, at least they got to the IMPORTANT parts of it((Antony interrupting Sweeney as he was shaving the Judge, him bringing Johanna to Sweeney's shop, etc)), so it was okay that they cut out the other stuff. Plus there's always the chance that they'll add that stuff on as Deleted Scenes when the DVD comes out.

Oh my god I can NOT tell you how hard I was laughing during By the Sea. I mean, the song was silly on it's own, but adding in those scenes... ah, Burton. ♥

He WAS. XD That shot and the wedding scene was what really killed me.

Also, I feel like such a bad person for laughing, but I totally cracked up during the whole Johanna reprise. I MEAN, HERE HE IS SINGING THIS SWEET SAD SONG, AND HE'S KILLING PEOPLE WHILE DOING IT.

Btw, I think I'm going to friend you. ♥ It's been a while since I've been able to rant like this, and I do love ranting. X3

Sure, I'll friend you back too. I... warn you now, 90% of what I post is random Kingdom Hearts related stuff. I'd like to think I'm not really like most of that fandom (I stay away from wank, idiot slash pairings, etc, and have been in the fandom so long that I'm probably starting to rust), and not Sweeney-related, but hey.

Also crack. Cracky journal is often full of crack. yes.

... I laughed too. though I couldn't look at the actual cuts, had to turn away at the last second XD I can watch Kill Bill Vol 1 over and over again, but there's something about the throat cut which squicks me. XD

Hey, Kingdom Hearts is a good game. XD I'm not an OMGUBERFANGIRL but I do have my moments.

Crack is ALWAYS good. That's usually what my journal consists of, since RP is kind of slowly eating away at my soul. Not that I'm complaining or anything. >_>

I looked away when he killed Pirelli 'cause I didn't know what to expect and I'm a total WEENIE when it comes to violent movies((yet I can stomach violent anime like Hellsing, wut)), but it really didn't squick me as much as I thought it would. See if there was gore in there too, I probably wouldn't be able to look. XD

I'm a giant, ridiculous RP addict. I think my record for muns is like 9 or something, across like 5 different games x_X I'm working my way back up, too... damn you, RP!

... I also LARP. it's terrible. Last year at Otakon I LARP'd as Yumichika Ayasagawa (had me a Ikkaku and a Zaraki as well. though... Zaraki kind of sucked as a roleplayer. oh well.) Fantastic times - someone cast a spell to put me into a goth loli dress as "punishment".

I plaaaay... 7 people. 6 in one game, one in another much less-active game. And I NPC a couple of people too. GOD IT'S SO ADDICTING. When I first started at bnf_brawl I promised myself I wouldn't have more than one character then I just kept picking more people up and kfjghdt gaaah.

... The thought of Yumichika in a goth loli dress is kind of creepy but I can't stop laughing.

It was... pretty amazing. Especially when Zaraki and Ikkaku wanted to talk to me later.

Zaraki was like WTF ARE YOU WEARING and Ikkaku just laughed.

Even better was fighting in it, and also going to the IC speed-dating event and confusing the everloving hell out of a lot of people. like Carrot Glace. Oh, Otakon and your crazy Bleach shenanigans.

Next year scares me. We seem to have Aizen, Grimjow, Ulquiorra, and Gin. The fangirl in me goes OMG YEY! The roleplayer in me goes "God help my poor character" as this year I'm playing Ahiru from Princess Tutu.

(Another fun note: Otakon's LARP isn't strictly in costume, and this year I think the guy who plays Light Yagami is going to be cosplaying Sweeney Todd. ... So imagine Light, if you know Death Note, cosplaying Sweeney Todd. Yes. <3 )

I am a gigantic Bleach NERD and I'm proud of it. X3 if you go to BleachExile they have an online reader so you don't have to torrent anything, and CrunchyRoll is all up-to-date on the anime.

I could honestly rant for hours on Bleach. Characters I like, pairings, plot points, you name it. ONCE YOU GET ME STARTED IT'S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ME TO STOP.
