Same. My grandfather had a stroke, followed by Alzheimer's with complications. The only thing I can be grateful for was that it was relatively quick, 'only' a few months. Watching him - not a perfect man, but a strident, stoic man - revert into something like a lost, trapped child was one of the worst things in my life so far.
