I can understand why you wouldn't want to add your opinion in those cases but sometimes it's good to add in a differing opinion for a few reasons. One so the person with the different opinion you agree with doesn't feel completely piled on and alone. And two so things don't turn into an echo chamber or mob mentality where everyone just sides with the popular opinion, not so much because they all think it's right, but because they are afraid to disagree.

Sometimes people don't see how misguided something is or they don't see the other side of things until someone puts it another way. You could be saying basically the same thing as the reasonable person, but sometimes just rewording or hearing another voice causes people to question their stance.
