They might be thinking of Jhudora quests, which set you back to level 1 in quest!level with a failed result. Which is only important if you want the avatar. No "harm" befalls your pets; snowager and wheel of mediocrity inflict more damage!

I love this secret, but for a minute I thought "witch" was a metaphor for an older user, and wondered who would do that to a kid! (I never got that far in neopets, so I don't know the universe.)

i didn't know accounts were being purged, and i was suddenly REALLY worried that my account was purged even though i haven't touched it in years, but no, it's there. i'm oddly really relieved by this.

I'm glad I'm not the only kid who worried over stuff like this!

I still remember this one game (some mystery/puzzle thing set at a museum, I think?) that had a "Don't Touch" button on the wall of an office. Don't even think about touching the Don't Touch button!

I figured it might just be a joke, but I was really scared to touch it, because what if it wasn't, and it killed the whole game or something.

I still sometimes wonder what actually would have happened if I'd dared to touch the Don't Touch button.

Oh wow, I had that game as a kid! Wasn't it about the Smithsonian? I remember the Don't Touch button. I know I touched it at one point... I was about to tell you what happened if you touched it, and then I realized I don't actually remember! I feel like it might have turned off all the lights and been a "game over" sort of thing but I'm not really sure...

Text: Once upon a time, a child discovered an exciting website.

“Virtual pets!” She exclaimed. “What a riot!”

She clumsily explored its world, happy to find new wonders.

But then she stumbled upon a witch, who issued a challenge.

“I have a quest for you, but do not accept it unless you are certain to complete it.”

The child naively accepted.

“Find me a [item] within 24 hours, but do not dare come back without it, for my rage will be great.”

The child tried so, so hard, but she could not find the item.

She avoided the witch in the map, but eventually she became so scared she abandoned the game.

The child moved on with her life, and blossomed into a beautiful woman.

One day, she decided to confront her silly child hood fear and find the witch, punishment or no punishment.

But, alas, her account had been purged!

And still she wonders,
