When I was a kid, pictures of hot guys always seemed to have this expression like they were trying to look like a cute puppy. Kind of droopy and sad. I thought it was kind of silly, at the time.

But now it's even worse! All the (supposedly) hot guys have this hard, glaring expression. The kind that says "I could beat the everloving crap out of you, do you really want to even think about getting out of line?" Honestly, I'd take the puppy-dog patheticness over someone looking like they'd murder me without a second thought if I made the tiniest mistake.

Why can't people just have normal expressions in pictures?

Purposely wall-eyed models are the worst

I am so picky about photos of faces. That bugs me too but my big thing is fake smiles. There are times when I can see how fake it is and the way the muscles are straining to hold it in place and it really creeps me out because they're just trapped there uncomfortable forever. I adblock so many avatars because of this.

Because that'd be boring, obviously! It's way more entertaining if they all have the same expression!

They are usually trying to convey sexiness. Maybe more angry sexiness is in these days?

Maybe, but it creeps me out. Sometimes, I think there's a fine line between a guy wanting to have sex with a woman and a guy wanting to beat her into bloody mush.

I actually had to change the wording of that a few times, because a few of the violent words I was going to use are already used as slang for "have sex." I swear I've heard pretty much every term - destroy, annihilate, rape, slay, pound.. ugh. I don't want to be "destroyed."

don't they say that if somebody stares into your eyes for more than 6 seconds, they either have violent or sexual (or I guess, violent sexual) intentions?

Jesus I can hardly imagine staring into somebody's eyes for more than 6 seconds even if I did have violent or sexual intentions

I find it less annoying than the trend for women: appear dead.

Or even better: pout while appearing dead.

Christ, yeah. Remember Christie Brinkley? Remember how she used to fucking SMILE? Let's do that again.

I can forgive runway models because smiling distracts from the clothes (you look at the model's face and not what she's wearing).

I really wish female porn stars wouldn't try to look dead or be directed to do it. That says something really awful about the people the porn is intended for (I don't mean actual necrophilia, but "this is just a body to fuck, not a person.")

The female models are just as bad. When was the last time you ever saw a female model smile? They all look like half their brains were removed.

This "apathetic IDGAF" expression. It annoys the shit out of me.

I hate the completely vacant look, like their brains have been scooped out. Yeesh.

And male soft-core/nude models seem to always be looking down at their dicks like 'wow! this is new!'

Maybe the male models woke up and found themselves in a gender-swap fic?
