[Edward Petherbridge as Lord Peter Wimsey]
sabotabby: (books!)

I really should watch that. Loved the books. Found him wildly attractive even though I'm practically an anarchist and shouldn't be into that.

I really need to read the rest of these books and then maybe I'll tackle whatever this is. I didn't know there were adaptations of this but it doesn't surprise me.

Sorry, just to be clear here, you would characterize both Wimsey and Steven Fry as evil (or at least evil-ish)?

I can see distasteful, and I can see despising the aristocratic or upper-class order they might represent, but evil seems like rather strong medicine here.

No I wouldn't call them evil, just something about their sex appeal has that sense of hidden wickedness and evil to it, to me. Something about their smiles and expressions in their eyes sometimes, it's all things I'm projecting in to them I'm sure.

But they're extremely unlike each other! (OK, they are both bright and well-educated - though Peter is by the only objective standard available cleverer -, but other than that...)

A Lord Peter Wimsey secret? My day is made! I wish they'd do another adaptation of the Wimsey/Vane novels - the Petherbridge/Walter ones are great but dammit I need a better Gaudy Night and a Busman's Honeymoon.

He was one of my first crushes! though not at all evil.

Evil? I remember Wimsey being almost revolutionary in his modern theories about women. He employed a whole army of older women as informants and valued them highly.

It was probably something to do with him being created by and written by a woman, and her understanding that an intelligent man who treats women with respect is really, really sexy.

I was just rewatching this series last month. While the video tape quality hasn't stood the test of time, the character design in the writing certainly has.

Miss Climpson in Strong Poison is my hero, and not just for inspiring Verity Kindle to fake a seance.
