It's PI day!

What kind of pie did you make?

I'm going for lemon meringue as it is a household favorite.

I've never successfully baked a pie. Which is sad because pies are my favorite desert. Particularly strawberry-rhubarb. That's what i used to get on my birthday every year. So tasty.

That's extra sad, as cakes are way trickier to get right. Heck, I don't even mind if you have to go out and buy a frozen crust- you should definitely give it a shot.

Well, I've never made a non-mix cake, so...

Basically, I'm really horrible at cooking. The last pie I tried to make, it had so much liquid inside it spilled out over the tray I put the pie pan on and into my oven.

Well some pie filling will just do that. A lot of berry pies, really. They have a lot of juice in them.

Can't go wrong with a pi day classic.

It's not Pi day here in the UK, though. It's just a day.

Pi day isn't an official day anywhere. It's like May 4th for Star Wars fans or April 20th for marijuana advocates. It's a fun thing to do if you're a nerd.

I think the AYRT is making reference to the UK using a differnt date format that means the allusion doesn't work.

Re: It's PI day!

[personal profile] herpymcderp 2015-03-14 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I'm Canadian and we use the UK date format but it doesn't god damn matter because PIE and math, together at last.

It's my mom's birthday so sometimes her birthday cake will be boston creme pie for the occasion, but tonight we're going out for dinner. If they have some kind of pie available for dessert I'm totally getting it.

I was too lazy to make any, but I bought a very nice chocolate creme pie.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-15 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Didn't make any but I had some lemon meringue pie.

I've been sitting on this recipie for lemon shaker pie for a while and wanted to try it:

http://www.thekitchn.com/spring-recipe-shaker-meter-lemon-pie-recipes-from-the-kitchn-47770

Only with regular lemons because Meyer lemons are frickin' expensive.

...Then I reaslized I didn't actually own a pie plate and wan't going to have time to go shop for one, so I will have to celebrate pi day a few days late.

Ugh. Meyer lemons. I want my lemon to be SOUR, damn it. They're so disappointing to me.
