The only thing that makes sense if you look at the overarching plot, themes and structure of their story incl. the extra with Sekka (or Setsuka, as she is incorrectly referred to still in a lot of places).

It's only cryptic if you've never read TYOB and X. Or don't know anything about CLAMP and their favorite tropes. Or literary conventions. Or plot & structure in writing, in general. But anon has read both TYOB and X and I refuse to believe they don't know about any of these things I listed.

In Tokyo Babylon, Seishirou made the bet with Subaru to see if he could love Subaru. That was almost impossible for Subaru to win, because the Sakurazukamori is incapable of feeling of love. At the end of Tokyo Babylon Seishirou tells Subaru that he doesn't love him.
But in X we learn that Seishirou's mother wanted to be killed by Seishirou because she loves him, and she also tells him that the Sakurazukamori ends up being killed by the person they love.
In X Seishirou triggers a spell that ends up making Subaru kill him. And he does this with the knowledge of what his mother said.
So, the guess is that Seishirou end up telling Subaru that he loved him.
