I'm just sad that it seems that once there is a new season/series, the older once get abandoned for the new ones. And I only really am interested in two-three fandoms, not all of them.

I'm only interested in a handful of shows as well :( I'm not really interested in most of the Neo-Heisei shows, but I'm relatively into Drive. Too bad that the rate of fanworks produced is much slower than for Gaim. And Ninninger fandom will most likely not produce a high output of fanworks during the show's run as well...

I loved Gokaiger, which apparently had a fair amount of fanworks, compared to the other fandoms, but not necessarily all relevant to my interests. That's the problem as well - even if there is a fandom, chances are that the things that are "produced" don't always align with my tastes haha!
But I actually do like Drive as well - I'm actually surprised how much I enjoy it (last I checked I remember it actually had more fanfic than I expected it to have at that time, but it's still not a lot)! Not sure about Ninninger yet but it's only been 3 episodes.

Same. I love the fuck out of Kyoryuger but that was two seasons ago. In fandom terms, it's dead.

That's just the unfortunate nature of self-contained single-year canons like these franchises put out. Someone who discovered, say, Buffy during season three had a strong reason to go back and find and watch the first two seasons, because things were happening in the "now" of the show as a result of them.

People who hopped into Rider at Gaim (of whom there were a lot, because OMG BIG NAME ANIME WRITER OF THE MOMENT) might get interested in the existence of the rest of the franchise, but the events of OOO or Agito or what-have-you had no continuity with Gaim, so there was no need to seek them out, and that's how it's going to be with every new show.

That said, you could maybe try prompting on the anon memes? Obviously there's no guarantee you'd get what you want, but at least then what you want is ~out there~ and might connect with someone who would want to write it, rather than stay something you're only silently lamenting and have no chance whatsoever.

Text: I get disappointed every time a new series begins. I would wait for 10+ episodes to air, expect an uptick in fanwork (fanfiction, specifically)… which never comes.

I do plan on contributing some fics, yet still I’ve gotten used to making gifsets, which seem to be more effective for spreading love of the source material than fanfics. I always look forward to reading personalized squee in the tumblr tags of my gifests, whereas for ics I could at most hope for a silent kudo.

it is weird how many people I know watch toku but how few actually write fics, or even draw fanart...? there doesn't seem to be many

Is the fandom more active in Japan? That's what I'd presume... perhaps the doujin market would be more amenable?
