+1

Practical, logical costuming is nice.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-15 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't stand when female characters wear heels when it would be completely impractical, so I totally agree with you on this one.

(Like, why do so many female superhero costume designs have heels? My feet hurt just thinking about it.)

I loved when this was lampshaded in Batwoman a few years ago. ("They were the only boots I could find in red!") I think that was just the initial costume, though. I'm pretty sure she was in more of a combat boot style most of the time (Batgirl too - the Batfamily has been big on boots with heavy treads and low heels regardless of gender in the past decade or so).

I agree!

(What's this from? Maybe Cinderella?)
loracarol: (nekkid people are funny)

Yeah, it's the new Cinderella.

Thanks! I like the outfit in this pic. (Wasn't thinking of seeing the film in theaters, but I imagine I'll watch it someday.)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-15 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. That dash of realism in fantasy is always appreciated.

+1, except I take note and love it in all forms of media.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-15 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Especially when doing action, yes, but I also wish we saw more women not wearing high heels with evening wear. My mom spent my brother's graduation miserable with pain in her feet, legs and back and worrying about falling. And yes, I had tried to get her to ignore the must-wear-heels-with-evening-wear "rule".

While I can appreciate she's not riding in heels, horse owner in me is cringing at her in ballet flats. I've seen pictures of what a well placed hoof (even accidentally if you aren't watching your toes!) can do to a person's foot if they aren't wearing boots.

The irony of this secret is that they turned her glass slippers into high heels.
ext_18500: My non-fandom OC Oraania. She's crazy. (Default)

The glass "slippers" have been high heals for a very long time.

Besides, glass always strikes me as a terrible material to make shoes out of.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-17 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
there's actually a line about them being very comfortable. magic probably

With me it's sort of the opposite.

i don't really notice flats, but I DO notice heels, and they actively bother me in action scenes.

Same. Why would someone who supposedly wants to rid a city of crime even consider running around in a pair of pencil-thin high heels? It's stupid.

Same goes for abdomen and boob showing clothes. That is not practical clothing for running around and saving the world.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-15 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Ironically, horseback riding (not here, where there are no stirrups) is one case where I consider a raised heel justifiable for an action character. (Though a riding boot heel is not a pump or stiletto, either.)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-16 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
That was one of the main problems I had with TDKR. Catwoman's stilletos. Completely impractical for a cat burglar. They would scratch up the flooring, make noises when she walked and would be impossible to fight in (as evident by the fact that you can see Anne Hathaway (or her stunt double) wearing flats in one of the fight scenes).

Text: I really love it in tv and film when female characters wear flats, especially when doing action things.
