Grey's definitely goes up and down. I can't stop watching. This season has been pretty good, though.

I'm super behind, but I've read some recaps for this season that interest me so I'll probably try to catch up soon. I've also heard that they're doing some bullshit "is Derek cheating on Meredith" storyline which I'm just not looking forward to though. I know the show began with Derek and Meredith drama and will probably die with it, but good lord

I dislike Derek and am mostly neutral on Meredith, so if their storyline is stupid I just ignore it. Christina was my favorite. Callie my second, so I'm mostly still in it for Callie and Arizona and Amelia (who I loved on Private Practice).

I think Grey's has all but mastered the art of the near-shark-jump, where it gets so close to shark jumping that you swear it must have jumped that damn shark and then it course-corrects and gets decent again. It's not great and it's certainly not as good as it used to be, but for a show with as many seasons under its belt as Grey's has it's surprisingly solid entertainment.
