The furry CSI episode is bar none one of my favourite episodes of anything ever, right up there with the X-Files sideshow or roach eps.

I know a lot of furries (am not one myself, just sorta happened due to being in the Sonic fandom in the late 90s) and you can tell which ones were more insufferable by how offended they were.

I have a soft spot for the furry episode mainly because at least they tried.

Around the same time I first saw it, I remember L&O SVU was doing one of those "video games = murder simulators" episodes where they tried to make the phrase "LMAO" into some sort of psycho code phrase or something. Then I'd switch over to CSI, and Grissom was attending a lecture at the furry convention about the reincarnation of animal souls into human bodies, and it was like, he's paying attention, he's listening, he looks *fascinated*. Someone working on this episode *gave a damn*.

That counts so much more than accuracy in my book.

Yeah. We saw that episode when it originally aired, and while I remember precious little about it, I do remember Grissom being very, "Yeah, people do that, that's interesting. I didn't know that."

Grissom's attitude I think really helped us when we were younger. We've tried to embody that sort of, "oh, that's interesting," mentality.

Grissom was the only reason I watched CSI as long as I did. He LIKES things that aren't average--even if non-average looks 'weird', he's like 'interesting! awesome!'

Like, the women I remember him having the most chemistry with were a dominatrix and the deaf school president. And I loved in the ep about people with dwarfism, he flirted with the small ladies without so much as a blink. People are just people to him I think.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking that maybe Grissom was one of the influences when we were kids and first becoming aware of our own weirdness. He gave us some lens of at least somewhat accepting ourself in a way that was practical.

Grissom was what made CSI great for me, ngl. He never judged, just looked for and respected the decency in people.

Yeah, he was an interesting character. It's not often you see an older character embody that kind of innocent fascination with the world--it's often relegated to kids--and at the same time, he wasn't gullible. He knew that people could do pretty awful things, but he still kept his mind open to new stuff, which is pretty cool.

Sideshow is the freak show one right? That was an awesome ep because of the sudden break of comedy and self awareness. Gillian Anderson was reminding me of Leslie Nielson took in that ep.

The furry one is awesome, isn't it?

It's how I first heard of furries.
