I keep those around too! I've got one in my bathroom right now.

The best thing about them is that they don't just kill mosquitoes and flies, they kill bigger, more dangerous spiders too.

That's cool! (Lucky me, I don't really have any dangerous spiders in my country but definitely bigger ones. It's pretty cool what those thin little fellows can do!)

They're really amazing, and I say that as someone who can't stand spiders in general (even though I know the big and non-harmful guys are good for the environment too. I have spider-squasher guilt very often). They trap much bigger spiders because they're a lot faster and more agile when it comes to spinning their silk. They can immobilize bigger spiders by just spinning the silk around one of their feet.

They also defend themselves from bigger predators by vibrating on their webs really fast (you can try that for yourself if you very gently prod at their webs, or the lines of silk that come from it) which is pretty cute.

Oh yes, I've seen them do this vibrating thing - that's cute.

I usually try to catch the bigger ones and throw them out but that's not always an option... I don't actually mind spiders - especially not outside. But I don't want to have the bigger ones inside my living space. The thin ones are alright because they are both useful and usually stay in the more or less same place.
