I actually did that once, very seriously and with the expectation that my views would respected in the same manner that those I was conversing with would want theirs respected. I was dogpiled.

For what it's worth, I'm not homophobic, pro-second amendment, anti-nanny state, anti-abortion, pro-environment, anti-federal government in education (Dear God, there was never a more potent recipe for scholastic misery than when we got the feds involved.), anti-comprehensive immigration reform (although I might change my mind if 'comprehensive' ever comes to actually mean that. Right now it seems to mean 'legalize everybody. In twenty years, we'll be right back where we are now.') and pro-small government.

See, that's the sort of thing I mean. You just threw out a whole bunch of buzzwords with only a bit of elaboration. There's no way to respond to that in detail or address the ideas involved. The only possible responses are "Sure, I'm [X] too!", "I am not [X] and I resent you for it!", or "That's nice, I guess."

(I am aware that I've been accused of doing exactly this.)
