Re: The first time you saw a show jump the shark

Ah ha ha ha ha, gods, yes. Season four was so amazingly *awful* in so many ways, and just mind-bogglingly *weird*. I mean, sure, a couple good moments, Derek wolfing being one of them, but...yeah. Most of it just makes you shake your head and sigh.

The Stiles/Malia thing was just weird and icky. Apparently that's the third female character deliberately thrown at Stiles to see if she'll 'stick'. Yucko.

The money thing could have been good if they'd handled it differently. We got from nothing and nobody talking about it to Melissa poring over her bills in almost every ep. And also apparently working *every* shift and doing *every* job. And her FBI ex is sleeping on the sofa but he's not contributing to the household bills at all?

The Sheriff was a little better, though i'd assumed he'd have better insurance from his job than that. I rather liked how they neatly sidestepped Derek needing to worry about money, heh.

Wow, lame of people to not inform you about the PSATs. Sheesh.

I have a soft spot for unhealthy relationships, so I would've liked Stiles/Malia a lot more if there was a focus on the sheer unhealthiness of that relationship. Seriously, they lost their virginity to each other in the basement of a mental institution where Stiles was being psychologically tortured by a millennium-old chaos spirit and Malia was recovering from years of isolation and still had the mental development of a child.

SO much darkness potential, all wasted away. :(

And yeah, a little more build-up of financial problems would've been good, but the fact that they did it at all and in such realistic depth was what rang with me (like, I can sympathize with the medical insurance problems - most likely, the Stilinski's insurance would've been great for covering other problems, but unfortunately they didn't have whatever it was their insurance DID cover and are stuck paying for whatever it DIDN'T cover - that's basically my family's situation right now).

Most likely, there was information about PSAT scholarships given at some point and I missed it, but this is kind of why I'm so upset when people say shit like "oh, it's just a test, don't worry about it". Even if I hadn't known what it was actually for, if I'd known that I should actually put effort into that test because it could have an actual impact on my life - and wasn't just some kind of personal diagnostic or measurement of the school - then at least a third of my current financial problems would be gone, right now.
